Speak To Your Mountain !In this life, everyone will face problems. There is not a single person on the planet who will escape challenges and difficulties. Our goal is not to avoid problems—they are an inevitable part of life. Instead, our goal is to gain the wisdom, knowledge, and faith needed to overcome them. Too often, people spend valuable time and energy talking about their problems. This may take the form of complaining, gossiping, or speaking words of fear, anger, and doubt. Unfortunately, these responses often make the situation worse. Problems can begin to take on a life of their own, dominating our thoughts and leading to destructive behaviors such as overeating, depression, excessive alcohol consumption, or drug use. You may be saying, “Dot, you don't know the huge problem I'm facing. It seems like there's no end in sight and no way out. What can I do?” I'm glad you asked. My answer is simple: Speak to your mountain! Your mountain is any challenge or problem that seems overwhelming or insurmountable. Your words are powerful. They can build up or tear down. The Bible tells us that “the power of life and death is in the tongue.” Just as a rudder directs a ship, your words help direct the course of your life. If you continually say you can overcome, you position yourself for victory. If you constantly declare defeat, you may never move forward. This may sound overly simplistic, but what you say about your situation—and what you believe—often has a greater impact than what anyone else says or believes. Speak to the mountain and tell it to move! While it is important to seek wisdom, support, and help from others, you must also believe in your God-given ability to overcome. Declare: “I will not be defeated by this problem. I have the ability to overcome.” As a woman of faith, I speak God's promises over my challenges. When facing difficulties, I declare: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When confronted with a health concern, I speak: “I walk in divine health and wholeness.” This does not mean denying reality or pretending symptoms do not exist. Rather, it means refusing to give the problem authority over your life and future. One of my favorite scriptures is found in Matthew 17:20: “Then Jesus told them, ‘I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, "May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea," and it will happen.’” As I conclude, remember that we are spirit, soul, and body. Our soul—our mind, will, and emotions—must be kept in check. Left unchecked, negative thoughts can create turmoil in our lives, weaken our spirits, and affect our physical well-being. Speak words of peace, faith, and hope to your mountain. Reject doubt, fear, and unbelief. Take every negative thought captive and replace it with truth. Thoughts are seeds. Seeds become actions, and actions shape destiny. Today, I encourage you: Say to the mountain, “Move!” To Your Health and Happiness!
